From Short Putts to Long Drives IBC Tees Off with Summer Promotions
Stamford, CT - May 14, 2003
IBC Root Beer is hitting the greens this summer with two promotions centered around golf.
"The goal of our summer consumer promotions is to broaden awareness of the IBC brand by communicating with our target consumers at sporting events that share the same spirit and focus on families
and fun as IBC Soft Drinks does," said Wendy Waesche, associate brand manager, IBC Soft Drinks - Mott's.
IBC will sponsor a summer sweepstakes connecting miniature golf with IBC Root Beer. IBC's "Family Tee Time Sweepstakes" will be communicated on all IBC Root Beer 6-pack carriers shipped
between June and August 2003. The offered is being made in conjunction with a partnership with the Professional Miniature Golf Association (PMGA), an organization specializing in mini-golf promotions, tournaments,
and course development. Sweepstakes prizes include one grand prize consisting of a family mini-golf tour to Orlando, FL; 12 first prize winners will receive IBC branded golf drivers and 100 second prize winners will
be awarded a dozen IBC branded golf balls. Entries can be made via a mail-in entry found on IBC six-packs or at the PMGA website located at www.thepmga.com.
In addition to the Family Tee Time Sweepstakes, IBC will also be offering discounted rounds of miniature golf. Tear pads with an offer for $2 off a round of miniature golf with proof of IBC purchase
will be displayed at approximately 500 participating PMGA affiliated golf courses. Offer details will also be displayed on www.thepmga.com.
IBC's "Family Tee Time Sweepstakes" and new relationship with the PMGA expands IBC's connection with golf for all ages. In addition to this summer's on-pack sweepstakes, IBC has signed on as
the official soft drink of the 2003 Long Drive Tour, a series of professional long drive competitions held in 6 major markets through out the US.
2003 also marks the third year of IBC's sponsorship of the Long Drive Association (LDA), a nine-year old organization dedicated to the sport of long driving.
Competitors in the Long Drive Championship drive for a purse of $350,000 and the title of "World's Longest Driver" which will be broadcast on ESPN on Christmas Eve.
